Merino sheep are primarily bred in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and other temperate regions. Merino fiber is characterized by exceptional softness and fineness. Compared to conventional sheep's wool, it is significantly finer, making it pleasant on the skin and minimizing the "scratchy" effect. The fiber has a diameter of approximately 18 to 24 microns, although the finest Merino fibers can measure even less than 18 microns.
